INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2021

On 18 May, the Iris Ceramica Group Historical Museum will be taking part in the International Museum Day organised by ICOM, this year devoted to “The future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”, with an original theatrical tour developed in partnership with ERT, the Emilia Romagna Theatre Foundation.

Designed to welcome visitors in person, involving them in a thrilling circuit blending the history of the company with that of the whole production system, the initial idea developed into a digital theatrical performance for viewing by as wide an audience as possible during the health emergency. 18 May therefore sees the world première of an artistic project, “Il Museo va in scena” (“The Museum on stage”), starring the showrooms envisaged as a stage frequented by authors, directors, actors, set designers, costume designers and skilled workers of a whole sector that, for almost a year, even behind the scenes, has continued to work, create and produce.

Art and theatre have always been languages inspiring the Group, which for this occasion tells its story from a unique and entertaining viewpoint combining all the icons of its business history with the transformations of Italian image and customs, from the economic boom in the early Seventies to modern times. The work developed with ERT is one of the partnerships active in the territory, with the support of the Iris Ceramica Group Foundation to the culture and growth of the local community and territories.

“The Museum on stage”, a theatrical visit lasting half an hour, will be available on the Iris Ceramica Group YouTube channel at the following link: https://youtu.be/g0BO2NaVQZg, from 19:00 on Tuesday 18 May. The main stars of the performance are a guide, an expert, an explorer and a legendary Italian singer-songwriter. The theatrical visit will be held in Italian by young players.

The Iris Ceramica Group Historical Museum is part of the Museimpresa (Italian Association of Company Archives and Museums) circuit, which joins museums and archives of major Italian businesses sharing a significant heritage and the transmission of a business culture able to impact training processes, safeguard the memory of Italian industry and enhance the testimonials of an extraordinary manufacturing skill.
