ART, INNOVATION AND FINE FOOD AT THE BERLIN FOOD WEEK

On 10 October 2024, the ICG Gallery in Berlin hosted an unforgettable evening presenting the eco-active Active Surfaces® ceramics, the stars of a culinary performance curated by the artist and designer Idan Gilony. Part of the official calendar of the BERLIN FOOD WEEK, the event combined Iris Ceramica Group’s innovative pioneering surfaces with a unique artistic and gastronomic experience, blending art, design and technology in an exclusive scenario.

A culinary journey in five steps led the guests through an amazing gastronomic experience. The evening began with a welcome drink in the bar area set up in the entrance, designed to welcome the participants in a relaxing setting. Then the short introductory tasting session aroused their culinary curiosity, inviting them to explore the senses.

The third step transformed a large white table made with Active Surfaces® into an artist’s canvas. The food was arranged creatively and spontaneously, allowing the guests to serve themselves directly from the table and stimulating interaction not only among the participants but also direct contact with the chef. The tasting session became an artistic experience where every gesture added to a collective culinary composition, in a uniquely dynamic moment.

Thereafter, the main dish was served on individual plates, also made with Active Surfaces®, underlining the elegance and versatility of the material. The event ended with an impressive cake served on an anti-bacterial SapienStone countertop. The guests dipped in freely with their spoons, creating their own dish interactively.

Active Surfaces® not only made an impression with their contemporary design but also demonstrated their extraordinarily functional character. Certified by the BELAC Institute for food contact, these surfaces are anti-bacterial and antiviral, guaranteeing the highest hygiene standards, and are ideal for professional and domestic kitchens. Their safety and versatility were put to the test during the evening, with dishes served directly on the ceramic surfaces.

Architects, designers and sector professionals present at the event were able to see for themselves the innovative potential of these pioneering solutions, which are also ideal for the hospitality industry.

The ICG Gallery in Berlin, designed as a meeting point between art and technology, was the perfect setting for showcasing the infinite possibilities offered by the Group’s Brands’ ceramic surfaces. Set against the prestigious backdrop of the BERLIN FOOD WEEK, the event confirmed the Group’s ability to redefine architecture and design standards with materials blending beauty, function and sustainability.
