THE ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING PRIZE RETURNS TO LONDON WITH A DEDICATED EVENT

Iris Ceramica Group reconfirms its role as Main Sponsor of The Architectural Drawing Prize, the award dedicated to architectural drawing, first launched in 2017 by Make Architects in collaboration with the World Architecture Festival and the Sir John Soane’s Museum in London. The competition celebrates technical drawing as a tool to communicate visions, ideas and design intentions, and is open to architects, designers and students from around the world.

To mark this special occasion, the ICG Gallery hosted a celebratory event moderated by Paul Finch — Programme Director of the World Architecture Festival and a judge since the Prize’s inception — featuring some of the long-standing jurors: Ken Shuttleworth, founder of Make Architects; artists Ben Langlands and Nikki Bell; Lily Jencks of Studio Lily Jencks; and Narinder Sagoo, Head of Design Communication at Foster + Partners.

The evening offered a moment to revisit the history of the Prize and celebrate past winners, while also reflecting on the importance of staying current: for this edition, it includes the acceptance of drawings created with the help of Artificial Intelligence, signalling the Prize’s responsiveness to emerging design tools and debates. The event provided a behind-the-scenes look at the Prize and opened a valuable dialogue with the judges — not only on the power and future of drawing, but also on the evolving role of the architect in the era of AI.
