THE PANEL ANNOUNCES THE NAMES OF THE WINNERS OF THE ARCHITECTURE DRAWING PRIZE

The panel announced the names of the winners of The Architecture Drawing Prize: this international initiative, supported by Iris Ceramica Group, organised and promoted by Make ArchitectsSir John Soane’s Museum in London along with the World Architecture Festival (WAF). The Prize celebrates the art of architectural drawing in three categories: hand-drawn, hybrid and digital.

  • The winner of the Hand-Drawn category is ‘The Spirit of Mountain’ by Weicheng Ye. Drawn with pencil, the exceptionally atmospheric work explores the relationship between the man-made and nature.
  • The winner of the Hybrid category is ‘Fitzroy Food Institute’ by Samuel Wen. The drawing explores themes around Chinese culture, globalisation and automation.
  • This year, Anton Markus Pasing, who won the Prize in 2019, was selected for the Digital His drawing ‘The Wall’ plays on ideas around the beginning, the end and the finite.

Each category also presents a selection of deserving works selected by the panel, consisting of authoritative figures including our CEO Federica Minozzi,  along with the Director of the Sir John Soane’s Museum, Bruce Boucher; artist Pablo Bronstein; the Founder of Lily Jencks Studio, Lily Jencks; artists Ben Langlands & Nikki Bell; Senior Partner of Foster + Partners, Narinder Sagoo and the Founder of Make Architects, Ken Shuttleworth.

The selected works will be on show for the first time at the  World Architecture Festival in Lisbon, from 30 November to 2 December 2022, and from 8 February to 7 May 2023 at the Sir John Soane’s Museum in London. For the occasion, the Absolute Winner of this edition will be announced.
